Mineral Makeup and how to use it

Before going into the details on how to best use mineral makeup, it is necessary to know what distinguishes mineral makeup from the traditional ones that you pick off supermarket shelves or the drug store. The primary difference is the ingredients used in them.

The usual makeup has petroleum derivatives in the form of parabens, petroleum jelly, glycerol, and other preservatives that are laced with toxic and harmful chemicals. Long term use, especially on sensitive skin that is prone to breakouts and rashes can age the skin prematurely.
Mineral makeup, on the other hand, is made from natural and organic ingredients that are free from parabens, binders, fillers and other harmful substances. Mineral makeup is suitable for both dry and oily skin. You can also use sweat proof mineral makeup safely when you workout or at the gym as the foundation does not slide off with the sweat.

Applying mineral makeup is best when the skin is clean and moisturized. Allow the moisturizer to be absorbed entirely before putting on the makeup. Use a liquid mineral concealer to minimize under-eye circles, redness around the nose and any other skin blemishes.

Use a kabuki brush which is shorter and denser and hence gives more coverage. Use fairly firm pressure to buff the foundation to a smooth finish. Most mineral makeup comes with a brush.
Apply a mineral powder concealer now. If you have oily skin but want a matte finish, round off the makeup with a mineral finishing powder.
